Imbalanced on the bay
This image capture the dynamic relationship between people and nature along the Port of Spain waterfront in Trinidad. Towering buildings reflect urban growth and human ambition, while the sea below-with whispered stories of pollution in the now murky waters is powerful and vast. It remains a timeless protector. In the distance, the mountains watch silently, grounding the city in the natural contours of the Caribbean. This moment, framed through the window of the Buccoo Reef ferry, reminds us that coastal life is not survival but BALANCE-between development and preservation, ambition and sustainability.
As sea levels rise, climate threats grow, embracing nature based solutions like mangroves, reef restoration. Smarter shoreline planning becomes less of an option and more a necessity. My photo calls us to recognize the beauty and vulnerability of our coasts, and the possibilities that emerge when we work WITH nature not against it.
