This photo was taken along the eastern coast during the months when sargassum seaweed washes ashore. At first, the calm, clear water looks perfect for bathing, but then you notice the large amounts of seaweed scattered along the shore. Even though it makes the beach look less inviting, the sargassum plays an important role in nature. It provides shelter and food for wildlife like egrets, which can be seen searching for food in the seaweed. That’s when I realized that this seaweed, even though it may seem like a problem, is a true paradox both a challenge and a treasure. It is actually a coastal gem, full of possibilities and importance to nature.
